My goal isn't just better outcomes — it's self-belief. Through counselling-informed practice, I help children develop the resilience, strategies, and confidence to navigate their learning journey independently, long after my sessions end.

I'm Debbie Caines, a UK qualified teacher with over 40 years of experience working with children and young people aged 4 to 18. Working across the Arun and Adur districts of West Sussex, I provide specialist support for students with Additional and Special Educational Needs.
In 1998, I embarked on further training and gained extensive specialism in SEN — a field I've dedicated the past 27 years to. In 2019, I added a Diploma in Counselling to my portfolio, allowing me to support not just the academic, but the emotional and social wellbeing of every child I work with.
My approach is built on a simple belief: every child can learn. I just need to find how. Through individualised assessment, evidence-based strategies, and genuine care, I help young people build the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
Supporting young people through two pathways.
I work directly with families who are seeking specialist SEN support for their child. Whether your child has an EHCP, is undergoing assessment, or you simply feel they would benefit from a different approach, I offer one-to-one tuition tailored to their unique needs — building confidence, skills, and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

I also work with Local Educational Authorities through educational specialism firms such as Targeted Provision, providing specialist tuition to children and young people who are vulnerable, have additional needs, or are outside of mainstream provision. This includes young people with EHCPs, looked-after children, and those requiring trauma-informed, one-to-one support.

Who does Howe Education support?
Howe Education provides one-to-one specialist SEN tuition for children and young people aged 4 to 18 across the Arun and Adur districts of West Sussex. Debbie Caines supports learners with dyslexia, autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, and broader literacy, numeracy, social and emotional, and study skills needs.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place at your home, in an agreed community setting, or online where that suits the child better. For home sessions, a parent or another responsible adult stays on the premises throughout.
Which areas do you cover?
Howe Education covers the Arun and Adur districts of West Sussex, including Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, Arundel, Rustington, Angmering, East Preston, Ferring, Worthing, Sompting and Lancing, along with the surrounding villages. Online sessions are available wherever suits your family.
Do you support children with an EHCP?
Yes. Tuition is EHCP-informed when working directly with families, and Debbie also delivers EHCP and SEMH provision commissioned by Local Authorities through specialist providers such as Targeted Provision.
What happens when we start?

Is Debbie DBS checked?
Yes. Debbie holds an Enhanced DBS certificate, which is available for inspection, and follows a safeguarding code of practice covering home, community, and online sessions.
